I have had the priveledge to be in class with Dr. Rainer at Southern Seminary. He is a gifted man, who is perfect for the job at Lifeway. But after reading the article he wrote on Building Bridges, I respect him more than ever. What he says is truth. His commitment statements have caused me to rethink how I have approached certain issues in my blogs and in ministry.
I ask that you join me is praying for Dr. Rainer and for our leadership in the SBC. Pray that God will usher us into a new era of unity and coopertion that focuses on the Gospel. Pray that we may actually see the benefits of the resurgance realized in our every increasing commitment to God’s word and its theme of redemption.
I pray his voice becomes “the voice” for the SBC.
Kevin – the good news is that there are some good voices emerging. I truly appreciate Tom and Dr. Mohler.
I didn’t go to Southern but the more I hear Dr. Mohler the more I like his tone and what he has to say.
I went through the conservative momment during my seminary years and it was stressful but necessary. I saw a lot of great professors who were conservative in the theology attacked and some moderates too.
I see his point and it is well taken but I don’t see much hope for our convention because of the proplexity of differing theological views.
Unity is lip service and it isn’t put to action in our convention.
I have seen pastors stand toe to toe over minor theological differnce and totally treat the differing pastor with disrepect. It is insane.
Pastors are now bring the lay people into their fight for something Dr. Rainer says has already been won.
We are speading more energy fighting within our own churches than fighting the real enemy, “The Devil”!
